The grapes for this single vineyard Gewurztraminer were grown on our estate vineyard, River Rock Vineyards, planted in a location that allows the vine to thrive and mature fruit of a consistent quality and character. The vines were in their 14th leaf when the fruit was harvested. All of our vineyards are on south facing slopes where soils are composed of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
The Gewurztraminer was hand-picked, at peak ripeness, and destemmed and pressed after a short period of skin contact time. The juice is then allowed to settle and racked to another stainless steel tank where it is inoculated with yeast starting the temperature controlled fermentation. The wine spent several months on the finer lees before finning, blending, filtering and bottling.
Dryer in style with floral and tropical aromas and flavors of passion fruit and lychee. This wine is balanced in acidity and is showing minerality often noted in wines from River Stone. Serve slightly chilled.
