The wine is currently showing aromas and flavors reminiscent of strawberry, raspberries, rhubarb, pomegranate and rose petals and has a luscious, dry, savory finish.

The grapes for our Malbec Rosé were sourced from growers in the South Okanagan, including River Rock vineyard, our home vineyard which surrounds our winery in Oliver, BC. The vines were farmed sustainably with particular care and attention to canopy and water management. Harvest decisions were based on winemaker's personal preference. The grapes were harvested in early October. The vineyards are all located in the South Okanagan where soils are composed of alluvial deposits of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
The Malbec was hand picked and destemmed. Approximately 60% of the fruit was left whole, uncrushed. Our Rosé is made in a traditional style where we cold soak the grapes for between 24 and 48 hours and then fully press, separating the pulp from the juice. In doing so, we are extracting some of the rich, dark, Malbec color as well as some of the skin tannin which enhances the wine's mouth feel. Then the clarified juice undergoes a cool temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is further aged 3 months on the finer lees where complexity and mouth feel are developed. The 2017 vintage is back sweetened slightly, fined, filtered and bottled. The result is a beautiful, vibrantly colored rosé.
