Vineyard Notes
The 2017 vintage was another good year in the vineyard. Bud break was April 27th and harvest dates were mid-October. The grapes for this wine were sourced from our estate vineyard only. The vines were in their 15th leaf and the canopy and water were carefully managed allowing the fruit to fully ripen before harvest. The vines are grown on south facing slopes where soils are composed of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
Winemaker Notes
All grapes were hand-picked, and destemmed. Approximately 80% of the fruit was left whole, uncrushed. The grapes were cold soaked between 3-5 days and then fermented in both stainless steel tanks (2200 and 2850 litre) and small fermentation totes to maximize skin to juice contact. The wine was transferred, following pressing, to tanks to settle then transferred to barrels where malolactic fermentation was completed. Wine was aged in French oak barrels (33% new) for approximately 14 months. Following aging, final filtering, and bottling, resulted in the 2017 Malbec.

Joined the wine club last summer when we were out there as we had just missed the Malbec but loved the Cornerstone. We knew if we loved the other wines we would definitely love the Malbec as that’s my go to so we joined the club so we could get first dibs. Well let me tell you! They did no disappoint. Just opened our first bottle and I am probably going to get myself a drinking problem this weekend! Wow. So good. Looks like I’ll have to order more. See you guys in August!

5 stars isn’t enough. If you told me this wine was $50-60 I would believe you. Every time my husband pours this I say - What is this??? It’s so good!
