Vineyard Notes
Most of the grapes for this blend were grown on our estate vineyard. The Viognier came from a neighbouring vineyard. The vines were in their 18th leaf when the fruit was harvested. All of our vineyards are on south facing slopes where soils are composed of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
Production Notes
The grapes were hand-picked, at peak ripeness, then de-stemmed and pressed after a short period of skin contact time. The juice was then allowed to settle before transferring to another stainless steel tank where it is inoculated with yeast starting the temperature controlled fermentation. Each wine is fermented individually with select yeast strains. Following fermentation the wines were racked off the lees several times over the next few months before blending, fining, filtering and bottling.

There are many white wine blends up and down the Okanagan and many don’t let you know what varietals make up their wines but River Stone provides this information and in this case, Splash blends three of my personal favourites for a refreshing summer wine. The wine is very fruit-forward and is very pleasant on a summer day. The sweetness is there but is not overpowering allowing it to go down easy. We personally find that it goes well served with spicier asian cuisine or of course just on its own. The winery suggests serving it slightly chilled but we prefer to have it a bit colder than that. This certainly is one of the better blends produced in the valley.
