2019 Malbec Rosé
Wine Club Price $20.61

The wine is currently showing aromas and flavors reminiscent of strawberry, raspberries, rhubarb, pomegranate and rose petals and has a luscious, dry, savory finish. A portion of our 2019 Malbec harvest was chosen for this unique, delicious summer wine. The distinctive fruit flavours of the Malbec grape pair nicely with warm summer days and good company. Serve slightly chilled.
The grapes for our Malbec Rosé were sourced from growers in the South Okanagan, including River Rock vineyard, our home vineyard which surrounds our winery in Oliver, BC. The vines were farmed sustainably with particular care and attention to canopy and water management. Harvest decisions were based on winemaker’s personal preference with particular attention to sugar/acid balance. The grapes were harvested October 1st. The vineyards are all located in the South Okanagan where soils are composed of alluvial deposits of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
The Malbec was hand-picked, and destemmed. Approximately 60% of the fruit was left whole, uncrushed. Our Rosé is made in a traditional style where we cold soak the grapes for between 24 and 48 hours and then fully press, separating the pulp from the juice. In doing so, we are extracting some of the rich, dark Malbec color as well as some of the skin tannin which enhances the wine’s mouth feel. Then the clarified juice undergoes a cool temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is further aged 3 months on the finer lees where complexity and mouth feel are developed. The 2019 vintage was then back sweetened slightly, fined, filtered and bottled. The result is a beautiful vibrantly colored rosé.
Food Pairing Notes
Brilliant with cheese and charcuterie on the deck in the early afternoon or have it with light grilled seafood. There is enough structure in this wine to be very food versatile or you can just enjoy it on it's own.

A ver different Rose. I am a Malbec/ Cabernet Franc fan. I love roses based on these grapes. They have more punch, more finish and are definitely not wimpy. This one has quite a long finish, is crisp and a bit tart. Will be great on the sun deck all summer long.

Perfect on it’s own or pairing with light summer fare!

My wife and I shared a bottle April 2020. Very nice wine. Both of us agreed this wine deserves a better time of the year such as a hot summer day, chilled and shared with friends on the patio/deck. Lucky we bought 6 bottles.

We discovered the winery and this wine in particular while visiting Okanagan Valley in 2016 and re-ordering since then every year. Amazing, unique, kind of thing you don’t want to miss... Congrats to the owners.

We missed our chance at this last year and were delighted to get a few bottles to try this year. We were completely impressed with this wine, so much so that we ordered more! Excellent taste, fantastic finish. Wonderful as a patio wine. Entirely too drinkable! Well done!

Our fave rosé for three years running! Love turning people on to how beautifully the Malbec grape translates into a sipper for those days you want substance but maybe not all the way to a full red. Beautiful wine, winery and people at Riverstone!

My favourite Rose. Perfect combination of tartness and sweetness. Full bodied but not overwhelming. Perfect with fish or a strawberry shortcake. I also like this paired with a nice Barbecued tenderloin. It is a great stand alone beverage any day of the week and any season. Complex and simple at the same time.

This is maybe my favourite summer wine. Great whilesitting in the patio of a summer afternoon or evening. Strawberries and melon, but this year has a bit more balance. Great with charcuterie or grilled chicken or pork tenderloin.

Love this rose’! Distinct flavours & well balanced in taste. We like it as an aperitif so that it’s unique features can be appreciated. Still great with cheeses & barbeque chicken.
