2023 Sauvignon Blanc

This wine is presently showing fresh tropical aromatics and subtle herbaceous undertones with flavours reminiscent of goose berry, passion fruit, grapefruit, and melon. The wine has a mouthwatering acidity balanced with a small amount of residual sugar giving a soft supple mouth feel and has a minerality reminiscent of other River Stone wines. Serve slightly chilled.

Vineyard Notes
The winter of 2022-23 saw several cold events where temperatures dipped below critical bud health values. There were many predictions of primary and possible secondary bud death. Bud break started on April 28th but was uneven and many primary buds were, as predicted, dead. Spring was cool but by late April the weather was warming up. May was nice and warm as was the remainder of the summer. The volume of fruit was down significantly in our vineyards which resulted in a slightly early harvest date.
The grapes for our Sauvignon Blanc came from our Boulder City Vineyard. Bud break was April 28th. The vines were farmed sustainably with particular care and attention to canopy and water management. Harvest decisions were based on winemaker’s personal preference with particular attention to sugar/acid balance and flavor. Vineyard soils are composed of sandy loam deposited during the last glaciation. Fruit was harvested on September 1st.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were hand-picked at peak ripeness for the style of wine desired, then destemmed. Grapes left to cold soak several hours and then pressed to tanks. The juice was then allowed to settle before transferring to another stainless-steel tank where it was inoculated with yeast starting the temperature controlled fermentation. The wines were racked several more times over the next few months before finning, filtering, and bottling.

Ted’s Sauv Blanc is the reason I have my membership with Riverstone. It is my favourite in the Okanagan Valley. So aromatic and beautiful mouth feel with the perfect balance of fruit and acidity. I started my membership several years ago and have found that this wine stays very consistent from year to year. Never disappointed! Highly recommend!!
