Staff Pick: 2025 Good Neighbours Albariño

Chilled, bright, aromatic, and easy to enjoy outdoors:  Albariño is exactly the kind of bottle you want on the table with fresh food, warm weather, and good friends.

Paula Cooper and her favourite wine
Paula Cooper’s Staff Pick: Albarino

This rare white is Paula Cooper’s current staff pick, and for good reason. Paula, River Stone’s Administrator and Customer Relations lead, has a background as a winemaker across the Okanagan. Needless to say, she knows a special bottle when she tastes one.

Albariño is not a grape we grow at the River Stone estate, and it was never part of our original plan for the 2025 vintage. The opportunity came through the 2025 vintage replacement program, which allowed us to work with Washington-grown fruit and explore varieties we would not normally have access to. When Ted came across the Albariño, he could not resist. It was a rare chance to work with a grape he had never made before.

The goal was to shape it in River Stone’s signature aromatic white wine style. Expect a bright and juicy wine, with lush tropical and stone fruit character, inviting aromatic lift, and the freshness that makes it perfect for hot summer sipping.

Serve it well chilled with fresh salads, seafood, grilled fish, local cheeses, or lighter patio fare. Better yet, enjoy it outside in wine country.

We made only 150 cases, and just a few remain. Come by the winery to taste it, or pick up a bottle. Once this small experiment is gone, it is gone.
