Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This bold Bordeaux style blend is presently showing ripe varietal fruit character with hints of blueberry, blackberry, cherry, sage and wild thyme. Loads of berry flavors, coffee and chocolate, supported by French oak. It has balanced acidity and moderate tannins that will soften in time.
Ratings
This tasty blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and Malbec has lots of character. Blackberry, cassis, dark cherry, mocha, bell pepper, tobacco, forest floor, and a touch of eucalyptus. Repeats with some black pepper on the palate. Full-bodied and smooth. Supple, soft tannins and medium-high acidity. Good length. The mocha character is a little bit overstated, which obscures the fruit a bit. Delicious though! Give it a try with barbecued pork tenderloin. 89/100 - Trevor Sabourin

Vineyard Notes
The grapes for this single vineyard Bordeaux style blend were grown on our estate vineyard, River Rock Vineyards, which surrounds our winery in Oliver BC. The vines were in their 9th leaf when the fruit was harvested. The vineyards are all on south facing slopes where soils are composed of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
Production Notes
Each varietal contained in the blend was hand picked, and destemmed. Approximately 80% of the fruit was left whole, uncrushed. The grapes were cold soaked between 3-5 days and then fermented in both stainless steel tanks (2200 and 2850 litre) and small fermentation totes to maximize skin to juice contact. The wine was transferred, following pressing, to tanks to settle then transferred to barrels where malolactic fermentation was completed. Wine was aged in French oak barrels (33% new) for approximately14 months. Following aging, blending trials were done, final filtering, and bottling resulting in the 2012 Corner Stone Blend.

Other Notes
Mostly merlot with the balance a mix of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec, the Corner Stone offers aromas of plum, eucalyptus, raspberry, cassis, blueberry and mocha. It's a plush, full-bodied red that's quite approachable, bringing cherry, plum, eucalyptus, mocha and white pepper flavours without a whack of tannin. ~ Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson Wine Align August 2015
